Is it possible to study how to use some wushu weapon in your center?
Yes, any of 18 shaolin base kinds of weapon. As usual a novice starts with a pole (stick), then comes a pike, a sword (a straight sword - jian and a curved one, dao).

Approximately, how much does it cost living and training for a fortnight in Shaolin?
One day living in the Guest House of the Center will come to 15$, three meals in a day about 5-10$, two trainings in a day cost 10$ with Russian trainers, 15$ in the kungfu school of Mr. Shi Yan Lu, qigong costs 20$ in Mr. Jun Jie's school. Whole set for a month (living, food, tours, visiting LuoYang and the Bai Ma Si (White Horse) temple) will costs 500$; trainings will be paid independently because anyone has one's own stamina and desires. Some can be happy with four trainings a day, while for others one will be enough.

Will I have time for sightseeing local objects?
Yes, the frequency of excursions depends on you money. 300$ must be enough to visit local sights.

Where trainings will go on, inside or outdoors?
Mainly outdoors, indoors when it rains.

I don't know Chinese well. Will be it a serious barrier in studying kungfu?
No. That Chinese masters who train our guests have enough experience in teaching and are capable to make their knowledge reach one's ears even without foreign language. If questions will emerge, our teacher who knows Chinese will explain it. As a rule, he attends fist trainings to help establish relations between master and trainee.

Will be there any occupation in the time between trainings or it is completely time?
Usually, trainings take place from 6 AM till 10 AM and from 5 PM till 8 PM. The rest time it is possible to go on mountains, in the temple, visit Dengfeng (which is in 20 minutes from Shaolin). Everything depends on you wish, we also have various movies and books in the Center. Lectures on Buddhism and bases of Chan meditations, studies of Chinese are planned.

What is Shaolin?
The Shaolin temple is the Chinese Buddhist monastery famed for its long association with Ch?n Buddhism and martial arts. The name "Shaolin" means "Young Forest". The original Shaolin temple is situated at one of China's five holy peaks, Songshan in Henan province. It was built about 495 AE by Emperor Xiaowen. Now it is an active monastery and a State museum of Mainland China.

Shaolin is situated in what type of lands?
See the previous question. It's no need for special acclimatization.

What about the typical weather in Shaolin? In summer (from March till October) temperature is in between of +25 and +40, fogs and rains are common, in winter up to -5. Snow is rare.

Are there any mosquitoes, snakes and poisonous spiders in Shaolin?
We have never seen any. Lots of cicadas, beetles, butterflies, nonpoisonous centipedes, but none of mosquitoes or biting midges!

Is cellular service available in SRC?
Yes, as everywhere in China. There is a stationary phone also: 0371-62749862

Have there any shop near SRC?
Consumer goods can be bought in the Shaolin village. There is the town Dengfeng in 20 minutes from the Centre, where you can buy anything you can imagine.

Is it clean in SRC and everywhere in China?
Just in SRC is perfectly clean, our staff does everyday cleaning in rooms, bed-clothes and towels are changed regularly. Sanitary engineering of the shower and restrooms fits with European standards. Unfortunately in many Chinese inns near Shaolin and in Dengfeng there are different points of view on cleanness, which was one of the reasons why we made our own guest house.

Is there any criminality near the Shaolin temple?
China is one of the most lawful countries in the world. You can freely walk without fears of aggression or deception anywhere (including Shaolin village), not important it's day or night. China people always respect foreigners.
